Work

From concept to deliverables

Weltmeister EX5

WM Motor wanted to bring to market new loyalty mobility experience by creating the service ecosystem with user's lifestyle. Based on the visual direction designed by their German team, Zaiye continued to design the UX/UI and animation till demo development in the one-year collaboration. Eventually, WM EX5 became the winner of 2018 iF Design Award.

Design Vision

Zaiye proposed the vision for the future infotainment system - From CONNECT to CONNEXT. It means that the design should be centered around connectivity. The interface should be intuitive, simple and strengthen consumers' emotional relationship with the vehicle.

HMI Information Architecutre

The user needs are transformed into information architecture after research and analysis. Then the team conducted field ideation to quickly prototype core interaction features, such as Superbar and Smartbar, which provided shortcut action and key information parallelly in different scenarios.

Design Principle: Pure and Easy-to-use

Equipped with solid design principles, the concept of connection between humans and cars is transformed into 3 core function modules - navigation/entertainment, car settings and personal center, combined with Superbar and gesture interaction. Under the constraints that the operation system has to work well across portrait and landscape screens, the innovative structure design significantly improved interactive efficiency.

UX Flow and Wireframe Design

Eventually, Zaiye team developed a detailed UX, visual and motion design, including car settings, AC, lighting, and 6 extra applications, based on the vehicles’ function list and the wireframe the team had created. Zaiye’s approach ensured that the UX flows were finalized and validated and that all UI kits were ready for engineers to implement and develop.
